賣場配置詞彙能幫你找到東西、開口求助、描述某項商品在哪裡，以及說明你購物時看到了什麼。你在超市、藥妝店、五金行、服飾店、便利商店與大型量販店都會用到這些詞。實用的技巧是描述店內的位置：你在哪一區、某樣東西在哪一層貨架，以及結帳區在哪裡。
與其說「The rice is there」，你可以說「The rice is in the dry goods aisle, on the bottom shelf, near the pasta」。這句話給出了分區、貨架層級與附近的一項商品。清楚的賣場英文能省時間，也能避免混淆。
重點區別
aisle 是貨架或陳列架之間的通道。人們走進走道尋找商品。走道可能有編號、標示或分類名稱。
shelf 是擺放商品的平面。貨架可以是高的、低的、最上層、中層、底層、空的、滿的或補貨過多的。
display 是為了吸引注意而排列出來的一組商品。陳列可能在店面前方、走道末端或結帳區附近。

詢問商品位置
求助時，說出商品名稱，並詢問是哪一區或哪一條走道。

描述貨架位置
貨架位置常常分成垂直與水平兩個方向。用 top、middle、bottom、left、right、front、back。
「The small bottles are on the top shelf, toward the left.」

「The item was pushed behind another package.」
當一項商品擋住另一項時用 behind，被兩樣東西夾在中間時用 between，東西在陳列架或櫃台下方時用 under。
描述賣場動線
大型賣場通常有一條自然的路徑。你從靠近購物車或購物籃的地方進入，經過季節性陳列，照著標示走向各分區，穿過走道，最後在結帳區結束。要描述這條動線，就用順序詞。
「The produce section is right after the entrance.」
「The dairy section is past the frozen foods.」
「The customer service counter is before checkout.」
「The restrooms are near the back wall.」
「The exit is to the right of the checkout lanes.」

學習者常犯的錯誤
不要混淆 aisle 和 isle。aisle 是商店、飛機、劇院或教堂裡的通道；isle 是島嶼，不是你購物時要用的詞。
不要說「on aisle five」。表達走道內部的位置時用「in aisle five」；表達平面時用「on the shelf」。
不要把每個服務地點都叫做 checkout。熟食櫃台、藥局櫃台與退貨櫃台都是服務區；checkout 是你付款的地方。
