如何看懂英語的標誌與公共告示
標誌與公共告示使用簡短、直接的英語。你會在車站、商店、辦公室、學校、公園、公寓大樓、停車場與公共廁所看到它們。它們告訴你該往哪裡走、什麼是允許的、什麼是不允許的、什麼是關閉的、什麼是危險的，以及你需要採取什麼行動。

學習者常犯的錯誤
不要混淆 notice 和 note。Notice 是公共訊息。Note 通常是簡短的私人訊息。
不要說「the machine is broken order」。要說「the machine is out of order」（這台機器故障了）或「the machine is broken」（這台機器壞了）。
不要說「smoking is prohibit」。要說「smoking is prohibited」（禁止吸菸）或「smoking is not allowed」（不允許吸菸）。
不要混淆 exit 和 exist。Exit 表示出去的路。Exist 表示存在。
不要在「No smoking」這類標誌片語後面接 must。在完整的句子裡說「You must not smoke here」（你不可以在這裡吸菸），或者就直接把標誌讀成「No smoking」。
