「Thank you, but I'm not interested in dating right now」幾乎在任何情境下都管用。

Thanks for asking, but I'm not interested."
That's really sweet of you, but I'll pass."
I don't think we're a romantic match, but thank you."
I'm actually seeing someone, but I appreciate you asking."
I'd rather keep things professional, but thanks."
I really value our friendship — I'd like to keep it that way."
I've thought about it, and the answer is still no. Please respect that."
Thank you, but I don't think we're a match. Best of luck!"
I'm flattered, but no thank you."
You seem great, but I'm not feeling a romantic connection."

  • "Maybe sometime!"(你心裡其實是 never)→ "Thanks, but I'll pass."
  • (人間蒸發——完全不回) → "Hey, I appreciate you asking, but I'm not interested. Take care."
  • "I'm busy this weekend."(然後下週、下下週也說一樣的話)→ "I'm not available to date right now, but thank you."
  • "I have boyfriend."(其實沒有)→ "I'm not looking to date, but thank you."
  • "Sorry sorry sorry I am so sorry sorry." → "Thank you for asking, but no." · 過度道歉會讓「不」聽起來像在道歉本身就是個問題。

A: Hey, I've been wanting to ask — would you want to get dinner sometime? B: Oh — that's really nice of you. I'd rather keep things professional, though. I hope that's okay. A: Of course. Thanks for telling me directly. B: Thanks for understanding.

A: I have to tell you something. I've kind of had feelings for you for a while. B: Oh. Thank you for telling me — that took courage. A: Is there any chance you feel the same? B: I don't, honestly. I really value you as a friend, and I want to be straight with you. A: That's hard to hear, but I appreciate you not pretending. B: Take whatever space you need. I'm here when you're ready.

「Thanks for asking, but...」 加上一個具體的理由(「I'm not looking to date」/「I'd rather keep things professional」/「I don't feel a romantic match」),可以給對方一個真實的著力點。 一句「thank you for asking」加一句清楚的「no」就夠了。

    • A. "Maybe sometime! We'll see!"
    • B. "Thanks for asking — I'd rather keep things professional, but I appreciate it."

    • B. "Hey — thank you, but I don't think we're a match. Best of luck!"

    • A. "Ew, no. Why would you say that?"
    • B. "Thank you for telling me. I really value our friendship, but I don't feel the same way."

解答
