房間格局的英語能幫你說明家具在哪裡、人們如何在空間裡走動，以及一個房間感覺起來是開闊、擁擠、平衡，還是彆扭。在佈置住家、描述一間出租屋、搬動家具、在建築物內指路，或說明一張照片時，你都可能用到這些詞。

許多學習者認得像「table」、「sofa」和「bed」這些名稱，但真正實用的技巧，是把這些物件的位置講清楚。一張沙發可以靠著牆、放在角落、面向窗戶、置中擺在一幅畫下方，或斜對著一把椅子。一張桌子可以靠近門、放在床邊、夾在兩把椅子中間，或塞進檯面下方。這些細微的位置用語，能讓你的描述聽起來自然。

重要區別

layout 是房間的配置：牆面、門、窗戶、家具和開放區域各在哪裡。一個房間可以有開放式格局、狹長格局、方正格局，或一種感覺擁擠的格局。

不要混淆 beside 和 besides。「Beside the bed」是指床的旁邊。「Besides」是指除此之外。

當你知道確切的位置關係時，不要過度使用 near。「The table is between the sofa and the window」會比「The table is near the sofa」清楚。

不要說「the chair watches the TV」。要說「the chair faces the TV」。人是 watch；家具是 face。

避免說「the room has many spaces」。要說「the room has plenty of floor space」或「there is a lot of open space」。
