在美國辦行動門號或家用網路，等於要同時處理採購、合約與技術問題。銷售人員可能在頭一分鐘就問你要 prepaid 還是 postpaid、是不是要 BYOD（bring your own device，自備裝置）、要不要加 hotspot。家用網路的客服可能會問你要 fiber、cable 還是 DSL、要不要 technician installation（技師到府安裝）、要不要租 modem。對新移民與訪客來說，難的很少是算錢——而是要在短時間內聽得懂這些詞，並做出選擇。

Promotional pricing。 許多方案的促銷價只有固定月份。確切問清何時結束、結束後變成多少。
Equipment rental。 許多家用網路業者按月收 modem 與 router 租金。自備相容設備可省錢，但要花一點時間學設定。
Installation fees。 Technician 到府安裝通常有一次性費用，促銷期間有時免費。Self-install kit 通常較便宜或免費。

實用小提醒

問價格時要問含稅、含規費、含設備費的每月總額，不只是廣告價。
弄清楚 promotional rate 什麼時候結束，結束後正常價格是多少。
家用網路若你自備相容的 modem 與 router，通常可省下設備租金。
行動門號跳槽前，先確認你的手機是無鎖機，且支援新 carrier 的網路。
依你生活穩定程度選 prepaid 或 postpaid。Prepaid 彈性大；postpaid 功能多、可分期買手機。
