英文怎麼念小數、分數與比例：再也不卡住
某次商務會議裡，一位學習者要把 3.14 這個數字念出來，他說「three point fourteen」。全場停了一下，有人輕聲糾正：「three point one four。」事情很小，但在課堂講座、電話或考試聽力裡，如果不懂這些數字怎麼念，可能整句話的意思就跟著漏掉。
為什麼這件事重要
小數、分數、比例的念法跟它們寫在紙上的樣子差很多。母語者常常把這類數字以正常語速塞進句子裡：「The recipe calls for two thirds of a cup, and the ratio is about three to one.」只在書面上看過這些數字的學習者很容易跟丟。其實規則一旦看懂就很簡單，而且這些念法到處都會出現——做菜、看天氣、講財經、看球賽比分、聽學術演講都會用到。
念法規則
小數在小數點之後是一個數字一個數字念出來。 數字 0.5 是「zero point five」或直接念「point five」。3.14 是「three point one four」，不是「three point fourteen」。小數點後的每個數字要一個一個念。point 代替小數點符號。
分數的分母（下面那個）用序數，如果分子大於 1，序數要加 -s。所以 1/3 是「one third」或「a third」，2/3 是「two thirds」。二分之一系列是不規則的：1/2 是「a half」或「one half」。
比例兩數之間用 to。2:1 是「two to one」。當某個量是整體的一部分時，英文常用 in：1 in 5 是「one in five」（每五個有一個）。

- 0.75 → 「zero point seven five」或「point seven five」
- 2.5 → 「two point five」
- 1/4 → 「a quarter」或「one quarter」（也可以說 「one fourth」）
- 5:2 → 「five to two」

常見情境
一起做菜。 「Add a third of a cup of sugar and half a teaspoon of salt. If you want it sweeter, go up to two thirds.」注意是 a third、two thirds，不是 one third、two third。
氣象報告。 「There's a 30 percent chance of rain, with about 0.4 inches expected by evening.」這裡會念成「zero point four inches」或「point four inches」。
在咖啡店分帳。 「Let's split this three ways — that's about twelve dollars each.」分帳時，英文常用 N ways 而不是分數。
學術演講。 「Roughly one in seven adults reports difficulty sleeping, and the ratio of women to men in the sample is about three to two.」one in seven 和 three to two 都講得很快；如果漏聽 in 和 to 這些小字，整個比例關係就抓不到。
線上購物。 「The screen is 6.1 inches, and the battery lasts 1.5 days.」念出來是「six point one inches」和「one and a half days」（在科技類語境裡也可以是「one point five days」）。
體育賽事轉播。 「It's two to one at halftime, and the shot accuracy is up to fifty-five percent.」比分用 to，百分比則照自己的規則念。
常見錯誤
- 把小數點後的數字合起來念成一個完整數字（「three point fourteen」），而沒有一個一個念。
- 忘了分數要加 -s（說「two third」而不是「two thirds」）。
- 在固定片語裡多加了 of：half an hour、half a day、half the class 都不要加 of。
- 口語中堅持用 one half，其實 a half 在輕鬆對話裡更自然（如「a half-hour break」）。
- 搞混 one in five（比例）、one out of five（也可以，語感稍正式一點），跟 one of five（這是指特定的五個之中的一個）。
- 把 3:1 念成「three one」，漏掉了 to。
- 快速說話時把小字 point 吞掉——練習時要把它清楚念出來。
