  • "Let me take a second on this one."
  • "Actually, I want to come back to something." —
  • "Give me a moment to phrase this properly." —
  • "There's a better way to say this — hang on."

  • "So if we look at what's on screen…"
  • "The key thing here is…"
  • "I want to highlight one part of this."

  • "Let me back up for a second." —
  • "Where was I going with this — right, …"
  • "Let me try that again." —

  • Don't say: "Sorry, sorry, I forgot what I was saying."

  • Say: "Let me take a second on this one."

  • Don't say: "Um, what was the next point, um…"

  • Say: "Where was I going with this — right, the cost side."

  • Don't say: "One moment please."

  • Say: "Give me a moment to phrase this properly."

  • Don't say: "I'm so nervous, I forgot everything."

  • Say: "Let me back up for a second."

Mini Script

"Okay, so on this slide we're looking at customer churn — and… let me take a second on this one, because I want to phrase it properly. The headline is that churn dropped, but the reason is not what you'd expect. So if we look at the chart on the right, you'll see the drop only happened in one segment. That's actually the most interesting part of this whole story."

留意 "let me take a second" 同 "if we look at the chart" 做咗過渡嘅工夫——到嗰段尾,冇人記得有過停頓。

好多學習者會將三個道歉疊起一齊講:「Sorry — sorry, I'm sorry — I forgot.」

講到一半,刻意停低,將 "Let me take a second on this one" 講出嚟。
  3. 練習 "Where was I going with this — right, …":俾自己一個題目,講 30 秒,刻意講到斷氣,然後用呢句重新開始。

  • "Let me take a second on this one"
