點樣用英文報失物品
失物（lost and found）詞彙可以幫你講清楚有件物品唔見咗、問人有冇見過、清楚形容嗰件物品，並且喺有人拾到嗰陣認領返。喺接待處、學校辦公室、酒店、機場、火車站、健身室、咖啡店、商店或者公寓大廈，你都可能用到呢類英文。
最有用嘅失物英文係具體嘅。與其講「I lost my thing」，不如講出件物品係咩、你最後喺邊度有過佢、佢個樣係點，同埋人哋可以點樣認得出。一個清楚嘅描述，可以幫職員去啱嘅地方搵，亦可以防止其他人誤認你件物品。
重點區分
Lost 意思係你唔知道某樣嘢喺邊。佢可能真係冇咗，但亦可能喺某個地方等緊有人搵到。
Missing 意思係某樣嘢唔喺佢應該喺嘅位置。當你發現一件物品唔見咗，通常就會用呢個字。
Misplaced 意思係你將某樣嘢擺錯咗位，搵唔返。佢聽落冇 lost 咁嚴重。
Found 意思係有人發現咗嗰件物品。一件 found item（拾獲物品）可能係屬於其他人嘅。

一個好嘅失物描述應該答到四條問題：佢係咩？咩顏色或者咩尺寸？你最後喺邊度見過佢？佢有咩特別細節？
「It is a small black wallet.」（係一個細嘅黑色銀包。）
「It has a zipper and a silver logo on the front.」（佢有條拉鏈，前面有個銀色標誌。）
「I last had it at the cafe counter around noon.」（我最後喺中午左右喺咖啡店個櫃枱有過佢。）
「There is a student ID inside with my name on it.」（入面有張學生證，上面有我個名。）
形容袋同衫，就講顏色、物料、品牌、尺寸同入面有咩。
「It is a navy backpack with two side pockets.」（係一個深藍色背囊，有兩個側袋。）
「There is a gray hoodie and a water bottle inside.」（入面有件灰色連帽衞衣同一支水樽。）
形容電子產品，就講保護套、熒幕、貼紙、充電器或者鎖機畫面。

報失同認領物品
當你報失物品，要禮貌咁開口，並且先講出主要嘅名詞。
「Excuse me, I lost my wallet. Has anyone turned one in?」（唔好意思，我唔見咗個銀包。有冇人交過一個過嚟？）
「I am looking for a set of keys with a green keychain.」（我搵緊一串配綠色鎖匙扣嘅鎖匙。）
「Could I check the lost and found?」（我可唔可以睇下失物認領處？）
當你拾到嘢，唔好據為己有。要用 turn in 或者 hand in。
「I found this phone in the hallway. Where should I turn it in?」（我喺走廊搵到部電話。我應該去邊度交？）
「Someone left this bag on the bench.」（有人將呢個袋留咗喺長櫈度。）
當你認領一件物品，職員可能會喺畀你睇之前要你形容佢。
「Can you tell me what color it is?」（你可唔可以話我知佢咩顏色？）

學習者常犯嘅錯誤
唔好講「I lost my wallet in yesterday」。應該講「I lost my wallet yesterday」或者「I lost my wallet in the lobby yesterday」。
唔好搞亂 lose 同 loose。Lose 係動詞：「I lose my keys often.」（我成日唔見鎖匙。）Loose 意思係唔緊：「The handle is loose.」（個手柄鬆咗。）
唔好講「Did someone pick my wallet?」。應該講「Did someone pick up my wallet?」或者「Did someone turn in my wallet?」。
如果你想講你將部電話留低咗喺車上面，唔好講「I forgot my phone in the train」。應該講「I left my phone on the train」。
唔好將 claim 用喺任何請求上面。Claim 意思係你表明件物品係你嘅。「I want to claim this phone」意思係「呢部電話係我嘅」。
唔好只係形容品牌。好多人都可能有同一個品牌。要加埋顏色、尺寸、入面有咩、損壞情況、貼紙或者名牌。
