點樣準備英文求職面試

求職面試用任何語言都有壓力。當英文唔係你嘅母語,壓力就會倍增。你唔單止擔心畀唔到好嘅答案,你仲擔心搵唔到啱嘅字、擔心你嘅文法、擔心你嘅口音、擔心自己聽落唔夠醒。

招聘經理真正在意嘅其實係:你溝通得清唔清晰?你解釋得到自己嘅經驗、講到令人明白嗎?你睇唔睇落好似一個值得共事嘅人?就係咁多。佢哋唔係喺度為你嘅文法評分,佢哋唔係喺度數你嘅錯誤。佢哋係喺度聽實質內容、清晰度同自信。

呢份指南會幫你為呢三樣嘢做準備。

STAR 法:你嘅答題框架

大部分面試問題歸根究底都係「Tell me about a time when...」或者「How do you handle...」。呢啲行為面試題係喺度搵技能嘅證據,唔係假設性嘅答案。STAR 法畀你一個可靠嘅結構。

**S — Situation(情境):**鋪設場景。你喺邊度?背景係乜? **T — Task(任務):**你嘅職責或者挑戰係乜? **A — Action(行動):**你具體做咗乜? **R — Result(結果):**發生咗乜事?你達成咗乜?

例題:「Tell me about a time you had to meet a tight deadline.」

弱嘅答案(冇結構):「Oh yes, I've had tight deadlines many times. I always try to work hard and finish on time. I'm very organized and I prioritize well.」

呢個答案乜都冇講到。佢全部都係宣稱,冇證據。

強嘅 STAR 答案:「Last year at [Company], our team was asked to deliver a product demo for a major client two weeks ahead of the original schedule. [Situation] As the project lead, I needed to reorganize the workload so we could deliver a functional demo without compromising quality. [Task] I broke the remaining work into critical and non-critical features, reassigned tasks based on team members' strengths, and set up daily 15-minute check-ins to catch blockers early. [Action] We delivered the demo on time, and the client signed a contract worth $200K. My manager specifically mentioned my coordination as a key factor. [Result]」

留意呢個答案點解強:佢具體、佢顯示咗做咗乜(唔係個團隊籠統做咗乜),而且佢將結果量化咗。

點樣準備 STAR 答案:

  1. 列出 10 條最常見嘅行為面試題(見下文)。
  2. 就每一條,由你嘅工作經歷之中找出一個真實經驗。
  3. 寫出 STAR 結構。講出嚟控制喺 60-90 秒。
  4. 練習大聲講出嚟,直至佢順暢自然、唔似背出嚟。

你冇辦法預測每一條問題,但你準備得到幾乎每場面試都會出現嗰啲。

關於你

「Tell me about yourself.」 呢個唔係叫你照背你份履歷。畀一個 60 秒嘅敍述:你而家嘅職位、你職涯之中一兩個亮點,以及你點解對呢個職位有興趣。當佢係你職業生涯嘅電影預告片。

範本:「I'm currently a [role] at [company], where I [key responsibility]. Before that, I [relevant experience]. I'm particularly interested in this role because [connection to the job].」

「Why are you interested in this position?」 顯示你有研究過呢間公司。將公司或者職位某啲具體嘅嘢,連繫到你嘅技能同職涯目標。好似「it seems like a great company」嗰類籠統答案毫無價值。

「What are your strengths?」 揀兩三個同呢份工直接相關嘅強項。就每一個畀一個簡短例子。「I'm a strong communicator」冇證據就乜都唔代表。「In my current role, I regularly present technical findings to non-technical stakeholders, which has helped reduce project miscommunication by about 30%」先係證據。

「What is your greatest weakness?」 誠實嘅做法最有效。講出一個真實嘅弱點,再解釋你做緊乜去改善佢。「I used to struggle with delegating tasks because I wanted to control the quality. I've been working on this by setting clear expectations upfront and scheduling check-in points instead of micromanaging.」唔好畀一個假嘅弱點,例如「I work too hard」。

關於你嘅經驗

「Tell me about a challenge you faced at work.」 用 STAR。揀一個同你應徵嗰份工相關嘅挑戰。集中喺你學到乜同你點樣成長。

「Describe a time you worked with a difficult colleague.」 每個面試官都會問某個版本嘅呢條問題。關鍵:千祈唔好講同事壞話。集中喺你嘅行動。「I noticed we had different communication styles, so I suggested we set up a weekly alignment meeting. It helped us get on the same page and the project delivered on time.」

「Tell me about a time you failed.」 佢哋想睇到自我覺察同學習。揀一個真正嘅失敗,解釋發生咗乜事,再強調你學到乜。「I underestimated the timeline for a database migration, which caused a two-week delay. I learned to add buffer time for unknown variables and to consult with the infrastructure team earlier in the planning process.」

關於將來

情境問題

「How do you handle pressure?」 描述你具體嘅壓力管理策略,再畀一個例子。「I break large problems into smaller tasks and focus on one at a time. When our server went down during a product launch, I triaged the issues, assigned the most critical fix to our senior developer, and handled client communication myself.」

「How do you prioritize your work?」 描述你實際嘅系統。「I use a combination of urgency and impact. Every Monday I list my tasks, categorize them by deadline and business impact, and block time for the high-impact items first.」

「Do you prefer working alone or in a team?」 答案幾乎一定係「兩樣都得,視乎任務」。畀啲例子,講你幾時獨立工作會表現出色、幾時協作會增添價值。

「Do you have any questions for us?」 永遠都要答有。呢個唔係可有可無。好嘅問題顯示真誠嘅興趣同批判性思考。

強嘅問題:

  • 「What does success look like in this role in the first six months?」
  • 「What are the biggest challenges the team is currently facing?」
  • 「How would you describe the team culture?」
  • 「What opportunities are there for professional development?」

弱嘅問題:

  • 「How much vacation do I get?」(留返到 offer 階段先問)
  • 「Did I get the job?」(千祈唔好問呢句)

處理突發問題

無論你準備得幾好,你都會至少遇到一條你冇預料到嘅問題。呢個係刻意嘅。面試官想睇到你即場點樣思考。

**停頓技巧。**當你聽到一條突發問題,抖一口氣,講:「That's a great question. Let me think about that for a moment.」呢句畀你五至十秒去組織思緒。面試官對呢樣嘅尊重,遠勝一個漫無邊際、唔知去到邊嘅答案。

**搭橋技巧。**如果你真係卡住,搭橋去一啲你講得到嘅嘢。「I haven't encountered that exact situation, but a similar experience was when...」呢句顯示適應力同誠實。

**澄清技巧。**如果條問題含糊或者令人混淆,就要求澄清。「Could you tell me more about what you mean by [part of the question]?」呢個唔係軟弱嘅表現,佢顯示你細心聆聽,亦都防止你答錯問題。

**當你諗唔起一個字嗰陣點做:**用一個簡單嘅同義詞,或者描述個概念。如果你諗唔起「implementation」,就講「putting the plan into action」。如果你諗唔起「scalable」,就講「something that can grow easily」。面試官在意嘅係你嘅諗法,唔係你嘅詞彙量。

肢體語言同臨場表現

非語言溝通喺面試裡面好重要,而啲規則喺唔同文化之間有差異。以下係喺英語商務文化裡面行得通嘅嘢。

**眼神接觸。**保持規律嘅眼神接觸,但唔好瞪住對方。面試官講嘢嗰陣望住佢,你講重點嗰陣亦都望住佢。諗嘢嗰陣短暫咁望開係自然嘅。視像面試嗰陣,望住鏡頭,唔係望住屏幕。

**姿勢。**坐直。略為向前傾,顯示你投入。唔好交叉手臂(畀人覺得有戒心)。雙手保持可見,運用自然嘅手勢。

**握手。**如果係面對面面試,就提出一個有力(但唔係捏爛人哋)嘅握手。喺好多文化裡面,握手係軟弱或者短促嘅。喺英語商務文化裡面,一個軟弱嘅握手會造成負面嘅第一印象。

**微笑。**問候面試官嗰陣,以及傾偈期間恰當嘅時刻,露一個自然嘅微笑,會令你顯得親切同有自信。你唔需要不停咁笑,但一張完全嚴肅嘅面孔會顯得唔友善。

**點頭。**面試官講嘢嗰陣輕輕點頭,顯示你主動聆聽。做得太過就會顯得緊張。

**視像面試方面:**良好嘅燈光(面向光源)、乾淨嘅背景、一個放喺視線水平嘅穩定鏡頭,以及一個強嘅網絡連線,呢啲嘢同你講乜一樣咁重要。喺面試之前測試你嘅設置。

處理口音顧慮

我哋直接啲講:你嘅口音唔係問題。如果面試官聽唔明你,咁係一個需要下功夫改善嘅溝通問題。但喺今日嘅全球職場,有口音係完全正常、亦都係意料之中。

真正比口音更重要嘅嘢:

  • 用適中嘅速度講嘢(唔好太快,唔好太慢)
  • 清晰咁讀出關鍵技術術語同公司專屬詞彙
  • 運用清晰嘅句子結構
  • 喺概念之間停頓
  • 強調重要嘅字眼

**面試之前:**練習大聲講出公司名、面試官個名、關鍵技術術語,以及你之前嘅公司名。呢啲就係你絕對需要讀得清晰嘅字。

**如果你唔被理解:**唔好慌。講「Let me rephrase that」,再用唔同方式講一次。面試官經常處理呢樣嘢,唔會因為呢樣而扣你分。

**如果你唔明白面試官:**講「I'm sorry, could you repeat that?」或者「Could you rephrase the question?」完全可以接受。咁好過去估,然後答錯問題。

真正有效嘅練習技巧

**有計時嘅模擬面試。**將你嘅手機設置成錄影。問自己一條常見面試題。喺兩分鐘以內答完。睇返段錄影。記低語塞詞(「um」、「uh」、「you know」)、節奏,以及你個答案有冇清晰嘅結構。重複直至你滿意。

**錄音同謄寫。**錄低一個練習答案,然後逐字寫低你講咗乜。讀返謄稿會揭示你聽唔出嘅規律:重複嘅片語、未完成嘅思緒、多餘嘅語塞詞。將謄稿編輯成一個更好嘅版本,然後練習講出改善咗嘅版本。

**面試詞彙準備。**整一張你好可能會用到嘅 20-30 個字詞嘅清單。練習讀出佢哋。練習用佢哋造句。常見嘅面試詞彙包括:

  • Collaborated, coordinated, managed, led, implemented
  • Revenue, efficiency, productivity, stakeholder
  • Cross-functional, scalable, streamlined, optimized
  • 「I was responsible for...」 / 「My role involved...」 / 「The outcome was...」

模擬面試逐步升級:

  1. **第 1 星期:**自己練習,錄低自己
  2. **第 2 星期:**同一個朋友或者語言 partner 練習
  3. **第 3 星期:**喺貼近真實嘅條件下做一次有計時嘅模擬面試(着商務服裝、適當嘅設置、唔睇筆記)
  4. **第 4 星期:**回顧所有錄影,找出餘下嘅弱點,再做最後一次完整綵排

面試當日清單

前一晚:

  • 研究公司、職位同面試官(LinkedIn 係你嘅好幫手)
  • 準備你嘅 STAR 故事
  • 鋪好專業服裝
  • 為你啲裝置充電(視像面試用)
  • 瞓一個好覺

當日早上:

  • 回顧你嘅關鍵談話要點(唔好臨急背新材料)
  • 做一個聲音熱身:大聲讀一段短文,等你嘅英文流動起嚟
  • 提早 10 分鐘到達(或者提早 5 分鐘登入視像通話)
  • 喺附近放一杯水

面試期間:

  • 答之前完整咁聽完(唔好喺佢哋仲講緊嗰陣就開始講嘢)
  • 每個答案之前抖一口氣
  • 抄筆記係冇問題嘅
