แนะนำสถานการณ์
ในสหรัฐอเมริกา เมื่อเป็นหวัด ไข้ หรือไออ่อน ๆ คนส่วนใหญ่จะไป primary care clinic (คลินิกแพทย์ประจำครอบครัว/อายุรกรรม) หรือ urgent care (สถานพยาบาลแบบ walk-in ไม่ต้องนัด) primary care มักต้องนัดล่วงหน้าและคิวยาว ส่วน urgent care สามารถ walk-in ในวันเดียวกันได้ เหมาะกับอาการที่ "ไม่ฉุกเฉินถึงขั้น ER แต่อยากตรวจวันนี้"
เจ้าหน้าที่หน้าเคาน์เตอร์ พยาบาล และแพทย์มักถามคำถามคล้าย ๆ กันเพื่อเก็บข้อมูลอาการให้ครบ ถ้าคุณบอกอาการได้ชัดด้วยหนึ่งหรือสองประโยค กระบวนการก็จะเร็วขึ้นมาก
